Intel does not provide new drivers for Windows 7/2008R2. To configure the NIC to be a VLAN trunk you historically needed to download drivers from Intel. One of the NICs in the server is an Intel® PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter which is connected to a VLAN trunk in one of my switches to be able to put VMs on different VLANS. The real problem has to lay somewhere else.I have my own lab server at home and the other day I finally reinstalled it with Windows Server 2012 RC. However, it turns out that the old driver on the system was working fine. *** This driver is not supported on kernel versions older than 2.4.0. When I tried to install this driver, I got the following error message (even though I run kernel version 3.19): *** Aborting the build. This requires version 8.x.x of the e1000 driver. I wanted to install the newest version of the e1000e driver. In the beginning I thought this was a driver issue. This probably means that it's either a BIOS problem, as suggested, or the hardware is actually damaged. I just installed Windows, and the device also isn't working there. The BIOS version is the latest version.Īs suggested, I updated the BIOS to the newest version, Left the device without power for a while and changed the hardware configuration. I have the problem that the ethernet device on the Intel NUC is not found.
